Sung took to Twitter to went on sale on June 8. Key Mi 8 specifications include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC, a dual rear 12-megapixel camera setup, infrared face unlock, and a 20-megapixel selfie camera. The Mi 8 SE smartphone is the first to be powered by the newly launched Snapdragon 710 SoC, comes with a fingerprint scanner at the back and runs on MIUI 10.
To recall, the Mi 8 price has been set at CNY 2,699 (roughly Rs. 28,600) for the 6GB RAM/ 64GB inbuilt storage variant, CNY 2,999 (about Rs. 31,600) for the 6GB RAM/ 128GB storage variant, and CNY 3,299 (roughly Rs. 34,800) for the 6GB RAM/ 256GB inbuilt storage model. The smartphone is available in White, Gold, Light Blue, and Black colour options. The Mi 8 Explorer Edition comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB inbuilt storage and bears a price tag of CNY 3,699 (roughly Rs. 39,000). Lastly, the Xiaomi Mi 8 SE is priced at CNY 1,799 (roughly Rs. 18,900) for the 4GB RAM/64GB storage variant, and CNY 1,999 (roughly Rs. 21,100) for the 6GB RAM/64GB storage variant.
Separately, a recent report claimed that Mi.com portal is the third largest e-commerce platform for smartphone shipments in India in the first quarter of 2018. The Counterpoint Research Market Monitor report claimed that it managed to rake in 14 percent share, whereas Flipkart and Amazon managed to lap up 54 percent and 30 percent share respectively.
