Datawind on Friday launched the Datawind 7SC aka Datawind PC 7SC budget tablet in India. Priced at Rs. 2,999 and offers free Internet surfing for one year via the UbiSurfer browser as a result of its tie up with RCom and Telenor networks this year. c595f

The Datawind 7SC tablet will be available online via Snapdeal, as well as via the Den Snapdeal TV-Shop. The tablet also includes the company's Web-delivery platform that is said to offer fastest mobile Web experience on regular GPRS/ EDGE based network.. The technology is said to be covered by 18 US patents and consumes 10 to 30 times less bandwidth. The company however, made it clear that the free access to Internet would not include audio/video streaming or local-s, which will require a separate data plan.

The dual-SIM ing Datawind 7SC runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat out-of-the-box and features a 7-inch WVGA (480x800 pixels) resolution display. The tablet packs a 1.3GHz single core MediaTek processor (unspecified model), clubbed with 512MB RAM. It also features 4GB of inbuilt storage, which can be further expanded via microSD card (up to 32GB).

Datawind 7SC s 2G calling and can deliver 3G connectivity via a dongle. Other connectivity features include Wi-Fi, USB 2.0, and Bluetooth connectivity. Backed by a 2400mAh battery, the tablet comes with a rear camera (unspecified resolution) but misses out on a front-facing camera. It is available in a Black colour variant from Snapdeal.

Free Internet browsing is only available on a prepaid GSM SIM card from the aforementioned telecom operators. The company in June extended the free Internet programme from handsets to all its devices with mobile Internet connectivity.
