iPhone X vs Samsung Galaxy Note 8 vs LG V30: Features compared 1c2ae

The iPhone X marks a departure from all the previous smartphones made by Apple as the handset offers an edge-to-edge display, facial recognition for unlocking and authentication, apart from wireless charging thanks to its glass back. The smartphone comes with a dual camera setup, in vertical orientation, unlike the iPhone 7 Plus and iPhone 8 Plus.

Coming to the Samsung Galaxy Note 8, the handset comes with highlight features including a dual rear camera setup, S Pen stylus, Infinity Display, and IP68-certification for dust and water resistance. The near bezel-less display at front of the smartphone comes with taller-than-usual aspect ratio of 18.5:9 but the narrow frame makes the Galaxy Note 8 easy to hold despite its large display size.

Moving to the LG V30, just like the iPhone X and Galaxy Note 8, the smartphone also comes with a bezel-less display and dual camera setup at the back, but notably, the primary sensor comes with an impressive f/1.6 aperture that allows more light to enter and effectively results in better pictures. The cameras are also stacked with Crystal Clear Lens to add to the process of correct colour reproduction and clearer photographs. The smartphone comes with LG's FullVision display that features narrow bezels.

As you can see from the features mentioned above, all three smartphones under consideration feature dual rear cameras and narrow bezels around the display. However, there are slight differences in of the execution and that might turn out to be the deciding factor for you.

The iPhone X comes with a near bezel-less 5.8-inch Super Retina (2436x1125 pixels) OLED Display display. Notably, Apple has removed Touch ID, the fingerprint scanner embedded with Home Button, which was introduced by the company with iPhone 5s. The iPhone X comes with a range of sensors including flood illuminator, infrared camera, front camera, and dot projector to allow customers to unlock the iPhone X by just looking at it - a system that has been termed by the Cupoertino-based company as the Face ID.

In of optics, the dual camera setup at rear-end of iPhone X comes with two 12-megapixel cameras. It comes with deeper pixels, quad-LED True Tone flash, as per the company. At front, there is a 7-megapixel selfie camera, and this year the front Portrait mode feature, which it introduced with the iPhone 7 Plus last year.

Moving to the Samsung Galaxy Note 8, the dual-SIM (Nano-SIM) smartphone runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat out-of-the-box. It sports a 6.3-inch QHD+ (1440x2960 pixels) Super AMOLED display, and is powered by a Samsung Exynos octa-core SoC, coupled with 6GB of LPDDR4 RAM.

The Galaxy Note 8's dual rear camera setup has dual OIS, with one 12-megapixel wide-angle lens camera and another 12-megapixel sensor telephoto lens camera. It has an 8-megapixel autofocus camera, and was launched in 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB inbuilt storage variants. Storage is expandable via microSD card (up to 256GB). It is powered by a 3300mAh battery.

Coming to the LG V30 specifications, the handset runs an UX 6.0+ interface based on Android 7.1.2 Nougat. The smartphone sports a 6-inch QHD+ (1440x2880 pixels) OLED FullVision display with a resolution of 538ppi and HDR10 . It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC coupled with 4GB of LPDDR4x RAM.

In of optics, the dual rear camera setup on the LG V30 comes with one 16-megapixel sensor with an impressive f/1.6 aperture, a 71-degree wide-angle lens, and one 13-megapixel sensor with a 120-degree wide-angle lens and an aperture of f/1.9. The cameras are also stacked with Crystal Clear Lens to add to the process of correct colour reproduction and clearer photographs. At front, the LG V30 sports a 5-megapixel wide-angle (90-degrees) camera with an aperture f/2.2.

While the LG V30 comes with 64GB built-in storage, which is expandable via microSD card (up to 2TB), the V30+ smartphone comes with 128GB of inbuilt storage (with the same expansion). The LG V30 comes with connectivity options including Bluetooth 5.0, USB Type-C, and Wi-Fi among others.

Verdict 91hw

If you prefer Android over iOS or vice versa, the choice would be rather simple for you. However, if you are comfortable with both platforms, you will have to decide whether you would prefer the curved display and S Pen offered with the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 or the flat screen offered by the other two smartphones. As iPhone X beats both LG V30 and Galaxy Note 8 by a distance in of pricing, it might prove to be the deciding factor for many customers as well. LG V30 offers a very good package for anyone who wants an Android smartphone too. Tell us the flagship smartphone that you will prefer to buy in the comments down below.
