Apple this year finally refreshed its MacBook Pro series, making long time loyalists very happy. At the same time, however, Apple managed to upset some of them by letting go of its proprietary MagSafe connector and replacing its with a USB Type-C power port. Those who loved their MagSafe connector may just have a substitute they can use on the new MacBook Pro models - the MagNeo. The USB Type-C adapter can bring back the utility of the MagSafe connector. An early buy special costs $19 (roughly Rs. 1,300) for a limited number units, but there has been no announcement on the actual pricing. 3c566x
The MagNeo connector fits into the Google Pixel and other tablets.
The startup claims that the MagNeo connector is the first magnetic USB Type-C solution that can transfer up to 5K videos and Thunderbolt 3 speed data, apart from charging - it's rated for up to 100W charging capacity. It competes with the previously launched Griffin BreakSafe, by providing a connector for almost all USB Type-C smartphones and tablets, including all Thunderbolt 3 devices as well where you can plug in your cable and you're good to go.
The MagNeo Kickstarter project has set a goal to reach $35,000 till January 27, 2017 after which the company might start production and ship the pre-ordered MagNeo connectors in early or mid-February. The company says that the it will ship the connectors free of cost in the USA, however, there's no information on other regions. As we mentioned, early birds can avail the MagNeo connector for as low as $19. You can check other early bird deals on the MagNeo's Kickstarter website.
