The Force Awakens, will be set about six months prior to J.J. Abrams’ film, according to a new report. Additionally, it will feature General Leia Organa, the character played by the late Carrie Fisher on the big screen. 55i55
The latter bit of news comes from the voice actor for General Organa on Star Wars Resistance, Rachel Butera, who made the announcement on her Twitter over the weekend. “I can finally announce that I have the incomprehensible honour of voicing the role of Leia Organa in the new Star Wars Resistance out this October,” she said.
The reveal about the narrower timeline comes from an investigative Twitter with the handle ‘Darth_Hardy’, who dove into the HTML code of the show’s official page on StarWars.com and found a description which said the series is “set about six months” before The Force Awakens. The synopsis has since been removed from the code.
Star Wars Resistance is centred on Kazuda Xiono (Christopher Sean), “a young pilot recruited by the Resistance and tasked with a top-secret mission to spy on the growing threat of the First Order”. Oscar Isaac and Gwendoline Christie will reprise their roles as Poe Dameron and Captain Phasma, respectively, while the droid BB-8 will also be seen. Other voice actors include Bobby Moynihan, Scott Lawrence, Josh Brener, Donald Faison, and Jim Rash.
Star Wars Resistance premieres October 7 on Disney Channel in the US. An Indian broadcaster has yet to be announced.
