WhatsApp, the popular cross-platform mobile instant messaging service, now claims to carry some 50 billion messages on average daily.

TechCrunch in a report quotes WhatsApp's CEO, Jan Koum, who at the DLD conference in shared the new monthly active s of his service which now has reached 430 million monthly active s. Further, Koum also revealed that WhatsApp now handles around 50 billion messages (sent and received) daily. Koum was quoted saying, "We just want to focus on messaging. If people want to play games there are plenty of other sites and also a lot of great companies building services around advertising. It's a 'free market' with apps, so the beauty is that people can get those features elsewhere". 4x5v4c

In addition, Benedict Evans, a mobile analyst has claimed that WhatsApp's new daily message figures might have gone past the conventional messages being shared. Evans said on Twitter, "WhatsApp message volume growth is still accelerating. Has probably now overtaken SMS." Evans also posted an image that showed WhatsApp's daily message sent numbers.

Notably, the mobile focused messaging company touched 400 million monthly active s mark in December last year. Jan Koum in a blog post revealed that the company added 100 million active s in the last four months alone. New Year's Eve saw 18 billion messages being sent, and 36 billion being received, a new record at the time.

300 million active base in August last year, and by the end of the year reached 400 million active s. WhatsApp even suggested to turn discussions of the shared numbers by other mobile instant messaging services to be about active s and not ed s.
