Adding to a couple of updates rolled out this week, Twitter on Thursday started rolling out a feature that will let micro bloggers share a public tweet through direct messages. Notably, the feature was announced during the firm's Analyst's Day event last week. 4z5w1y
s will now be able to share a public tweet with their Twitter followers using direct messages. For iOS s, a simple long press on the tweet in the official Twitter apps would show the option to 'Share via Direct Message', while for the Web interface and TweetDeck (for Windows and Chrome) s, a simple tap on the '...More' icon on the Twitter post would do the trick.
The receiver of the direct message would get a push notification "and the Tweet will display directly in the conversation," said Twitter's Product Manager, Sachin Agarwal, on the company blog post.
While on the subject of direct messages, earlier this week Twitter updated its backend and infrastructure to once again enable sharing of website URLs to other Twitter s via direct message.
The firm also recently updated its search feature to let s find every tweet ever sent since the launch of the social website in 2006. The new Search tool will roll out in next few days, the company said.
