Opera Mini Browser Claimed to Have 50 Million s in India

Opera Software has claimed that its popular Opera Mini mobile browser has reached the 50 million milestone in India.

The company further claims that it is now the "third largest mobile app used in India after Facebook and WhatsApp." According to Opera's statistics, India has now the largest base of Opera Mini s in the world as well. 3m6x1

Opera in a press statement said, "In India, the number of Opera's smartphone s grew by 110 percent over the past year and now for 50 percent of Opera's total base. These s are spread across Opera's portfolio of browsers, including Opera Mini and Opera's high-end smartphone browsers - Opera Coast for iOS devices and Opera for Android."

Some of the notable features of the Opera Mini browser is that it can shrink webpages by up to 90 percent and can render webpages faster, even in places with poor network conditions. The company notes that, "16 Indian handset manufacturers have already pre-installed Opera Mini on over 350 models of Android devices available in the market."

Announcing the milestone, Lars Boilesen, CEO of Opera Software said, "The Internet has the power to transform lives and we want everyone to have access to it. That's why our browsers are designed to work on almost any Internet-enabled device and in the toughest network conditions. Opera Mini's famous compression technology, which makes browsing faster and helps s cut down on their data costs, is extremely relevant for India. It feels fantastic to be embraced by so many Indians and I'm confident that India will play a key role in Opera's global vision of bringing the next billion people online."

The company added that its browsers multiple Indian languages, including Hindi, Bengali, Telugu, Marathi, Tamil, Urdu, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Oriya, Punjabi, Assamese and Kashmiri.
